Getting from Delhi to Yulla Kanda takes about 12–14 hours by road - manageable as an overnight drive if you leave Friday evening and reach Yulla Khas village Saturday morning, ready to trek.

Driving from Delhi
The fastest way is to drive yourself or hire a car. Leave Delhi between 8–10 PM on a Friday to clear city traffic. By midnight you’ll be past Chandigarh on the Shimla highway.
Key highway: NH-5 (Hindustan-Tibet Road) from Shimla through Narkanda and Rampur is the main artery into Kinnaur. It’s a well-maintained national highway but has mountain curves - drive carefully.
Fuel: Fill up at Rampur or Tapri. There’s no reliable fuel beyond Tapri until you return.
Tapri to Yulla Khas is about 20 km of mountain road. In good weather, it’s fine for most cars. Allow about 1 hour for this stretch.
By Bus from Delhi
HRTC (Himachal Road Transport) runs Volvo AC overnight buses from Delhi ISBT to Shimla. They depart around 9–10 PM and arrive in Shimla by 7–8 AM.
From Shimla, take a local HRTC bus toward Rampur (3–4 hours). Alight at Tapri, then hire a shared jeep or taxi to Yulla Khas village - about ₹300–500 per seat, ~1 hour.
The full public transport journey takes about 16–18 hours but costs significantly less than driving.
From Chandigarh
Chandigarh reduces the driving to ~450 km / 10–12 hours. Take NH5 towards Shimla, then continue as above via Narkanda → Rampur → Tapri → Yulla Khas.
Direct HRTC buses also run from Chandigarh to Shimla (3 hours) and from Shimla onwards toward Rampur.
Nearest Airport
The nearest practical airports are:
- Shimla Airport (Jubbarhatti): ~200 km from Yulla Khas. Limited flights from Delhi (~30 min). From the airport, hire a taxi via NH-5 to Tapri and then Yulla Khas.
- Chandigarh International Airport: ~450 km from Yulla Khas. Best connectivity from all major cities. Take a taxi or HRTC bus to Shimla, then continue to Kinnaur.
Things to Know Before You Go
Last ATM: Rampur town. Carry sufficient cash - there are no reliable ATMs beyond Rampur in the Kinnaur direction.
Mobile network: BSNL has limited coverage in Kinnaur. Most private networks (Jio, Airtel) drop after Rampur. Download offline maps (Maps.me works well) before leaving Shimla.
Road closures: The road to Yulla Khas can be blocked by snow (November–mid-May) or occasional landslides. Check with locals or our team before travelling in shoulder seasons.
